Why Fire Poppy?

Name With Meaning

Beauty From Destruction

Beauty From Destruction

Fire Poppy Coaching is named after the beautiful wildflower known as the fire poppy. The fire poppy is a rare flower that only grows in areas destroyed by wildfires. Despite the destruction, it is able to flourish, bringing vibrant color to the charred landscape. Thus, the fire poppy is a symbol of hope, resilience, and transformation.

At Fire Poppy Coaching, we know that hope can bloom from even the most difficult or devastating situations, just like the fire poppy.

Beauty From Destruction

The fire poppy belongs to a group of plants known as fire followers. The seeds of these flowers lie dormant in the soil until smoke from a wildfire signals the seeds to begin germination. Once the fire poppy blooms, its brilliant orange and red flowers provide cover for other shrubs and perennials to sprout and flourish again.

The fire poppy is a beautiful reminder that even in the midst of destruction and devastation, new life can emerge and thrive.

Resilience and Growth

Resilience and Growth

The fire poppy, known for its ability to grow and thrive in extreme conditions, is a powerful symbol of resilience and growth.

At Fire Poppy Coaching, we strongly believe that we can withstand tough times, adapt to changing circumstances, and emerge stronger than before.

We want to be a source of hope for those who are navigating new or difficult terrain or for those whose journey has been stuck in place, for we believe that everyone can rise from the ashes and bloom again.

Meet Bary Morgan

J. Bary Morgan is a trauma-informed care practitioner and the founder of Fire Poppy Coaching. His narrative-focused story work helps clients process the experiences that have impacted their lives. With strength and tenderness, Bary helps others uncover the wisdom hidden in their stories.

Prior to Fire Poppy Coaching, Bary worked in the financial services industry, advising clients and families for over 30 years. After his own difficult journey through trauma and brokenness, he felt a call to help people experience personal growth and discover powerful transformation.

As the proud father to three grown children - Parker, Mikayla, and Alex - Bary brings a fatherly heart to his work. He understands the importance of approaching formative stories with compassion and curiosity, and he creates a safe place where stories can be unpacked in the presence of a kind and wise witness.

Bary has a deep appreciation for the outdoors and nature's majestic beauty. He experiences joy while hiking, downhill skiing, snowshoeing, and hunting. He finds peace and solace in the fresh mountain air where he is often accompanied by his beloved yellow lab, Aspen. Aspen is also found at Bary's feet during story work sessions.

"I am a man of rugged tenderness. When others suffer, I join. When others are blind to their story, I peer in and speak. When there is grief, my tears well up. Where others cannot carry the ache of hope, I carry it for them. I am a father to the fatherless. I am a wise, kind, and strong king."

Testimonials

Overgrown railroad tracks running vertically through the forest - Fire Poppy Coaching J. Bary Morgan

"I have been meeting with Bary for several years now and cannot recommend him highly enough. He has been instrumental in my growth and development as a man and in learning how to explore my life story. His calm and reflective demeanor helps me to look at my experiences in a different light, and he has so many great resources and tools for me to carry on my growth in my own time. Overall a fantastic experience. Would highly recommend."

 – David

"Bary played a very critical role in my life for many years. He was a mentor of mine during a time when I struggled to really discover who I was. It was a transition period of being in school and getting married and having kids. He helped me work through a lot of my story as a kid of divorce and not having a dad around and how all of that affected my life as an adult, a husband, and a father. Bary is kind and compassionate. He's a great listener. He knows when to just listen and he knows when to ask questions. He takes a professional and personal approach in everything that I've seen him do. I owe Bary a debt of gratitude for all that he's done for me and my growth!."

– Brandon

“Bary is a man of rugged tenderness, and these days, that’s a rare and precious thing to behold. That rugged tenderness is the landscape of his fathering heart. Again and again, he gives space for a client's story to be heard and their heart to be cared for.”

– Jon, Founder of Liminal Space

"Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves...Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now." - Rainer Maria Rilke
